Libraries are being closed down everywhere as they lose their purpose as book havens in order to become stops for free internet or a public restroom. Most have also lost their cosy look and feel, the "bookishness" that was a good deal imparted by furniture and fittings like those found in the Classified Illustrated Catalog of the Library Department of Library Bureau, published in 1894. I think a return to such vernacular designs would help give a library its soul back, although I wouldn't mind seeing a few Slow Chairs thrown into the mix as well.
