BOOKS IN BERKELEY

A (mostly) French-language bookshop opened up in my neighborhood this week. There are still boxes everywhere & piles of books on the floor and not-yet-filled shelves, but to me it looks perfect. This is a relocation for European Books & Media, who had a shop in San Francisco for nearly 50 years before moving into this bright & airy Berkeley location. They sell everything from new and used French classics to kid's books & vintage artwork, as well as newspapers & magazines from around Europe. Despite the business-like name, the shop feels casual, and overflows with color, light, and beautiful books. Looks like I'll need to dust off my Rosetta Stone French & get fluent...
