POETS ON VINYL

I've been collecting LP's of poems being read by poets or notable actors for years now. The best were released between the 1950s -1970s by two labels, Caedmon (founded by two girls who convinced Dylan Thomas to record for them) and Argo.  It's nice company when I'm working alone and makes memorizing poems a snap. The quality of the poems (as well as the readings) are a world away from the coffee house nightmares that many people may think of when they hear the words "poetry reading". Highly recommended.

  1. The lettering on the top lp was done by the wonderful British modernist poet David Jones, who has an entire album of his readings on Argo as well. The cover for that one is great also, and worth tracking down.
